"Blues for Piano and Keyboard, Chapter 16 Preview"
Blues Chapter 16 is another big step in this series. In fact, in this chapter, we're really starting to blur the lines between Blues and Jazz.
With a focus on "Left hand Rootless Voicings", this chapter is an essential study tool to bring new skills to your left hand playing. Building on everything in previous chapters, we'll continue to study concepts such as:
"More Shell Chords"
We'll look at 7th Shell chords, minor 3rd and 7th Shell chords, Tri-tone shell chords as well as all of their inversions.
"Higher Extension Rootless Voicing Jazz Chords"
These "Rootless Voicings" have an amazing ability to instantly "Jazz up" your sound. No kidding, these left hand voicings are one of the essential ingredients in piano jazz. We'll go through quite a few of these voicings and study how to get your left hand comfortable playing each one.
In fact, the last section in the lesson video zeros in on showing you how to get these left hand voicings out of your head and into your hands - effortlessly. In addition, the lesson also includes a 15-page printable file that graphically shows each one of these powerful voicings in every key.
"Right Hand studies"
Even though this lesson primarily focuses on the left hand, we'll also take time to start exploring improvisational ideas for your right hand. I'll show you a simple idea that will enable you to begin making up your own right hand blues riffs immediately!
"Alternate Blues progression turnaround chords"
As you may be aware, not all blues progressions stick to the original 12-bar formula. There are many different "alternate" progressions that can be used to spice up the blues sound. We'll go through some alternate progressions in this lesson - combining the new chord changes with the "left hand rootless voicings" technique to really make the music explode!
"Minor vs. Major" Blues
Up to this point, we've been looking at major blues progressions. In this chapter, we'll dive into the minor blues progressions - bringing a much deeper shade of blues to your playing.
