of the "Chord Voicings Vault" program. (version 1.1)
[Partial Transcript of this piano lessons video below...]
There are two sections in this third drop down box, and they work together. The first section at the top says "Learn to play this voicing". Yes sir that is what we're wanting to do!
You'll also notice that it says slow, medium, fast and fastest. This is the section where you'll be able to fire up the drum rhythm tracks and it will help to get these chord voicings underneath your hands comfortably.
The next section, which is equally as important, says View/Print this voicing. This is actually the section where you'll start every time. Once you've chosen a chord that you want to study on the piano, and then you've chosen a chord
voicing to study, the best thing is to go to this section and choose "Print this voicing out through the circle of fourths". This will generate a full color three page chart that will show you the chosen piano chord voicing in every key on the keyboard.
Once you've printed out the chart, you can put it up on your piano. Looking at the chart, you'll know instantly how to play that voicing in every key. For instance, let's say you picked a simple chord, like a minor triad. Then we'll pick a voicing right in the middle... Then to generate the chart and see the chord voicing in every key, grab the option in the third drop down box.
Now you can see this as page one of three, two of three, and three of three. Each of these pages shows a detailed graphic of what the particular voicing looks like in every key. At the top of the page it also gives you the specific voicing listed as chord tones separated by a colon (:).
One thing you'll notice that we haven't talked about yet is that the chart lists this chord voicing through every key in a particular order called the "Circle of fourths". We'll talk about that in just a minute. But for now, you'd print out this three page chart, put it up on your piano or keyboard, and then as the program plays the voicing through every key with a drum rhythm track, you can easily play along and get comfortable with the voicing.
Once you get comfortable with any particular voicing, it becomes part of your musical vocabulary and you can start using it in songs that you play on the piano...
