Piano lessons Video "PowerFingers!" Ch. 1

Ever feel like your hands and fingers just don't respond like you want them to? Check out this online video piano lesson for a brand new perspective on hand and finger conditioning... PowerFingers!

Many musicians don't think about the fact that our hands are athletes on the keyboard. Athletes? Think about it - we ask our hands to do things that would make any gymnast dizzy... The fact is, our hands are composed of muscles, bones and connective tissue that need conditioning in order to perform their best - just like an athlete.

To pursue the athlete analogy a bit further - ask any runner if they would ever consider laying on the couch until the very last moment before a big race. No way. At least an hour before the race, you'd find them out warming up their muscles in order to compete at their highest level. (Not to mention avoiding injury)

In this piano lesson, we'll start with a very simple finger exercise on the piano.

The secret that will bring this finger exercise to life is the addition of "accents". By alternating which piano notes get accented, you will gain complete finger isolation and dexterity.

Practice and persistence are key ingredients in becoming a great piano player. Unfortunately, most pianists never receive the benefit of finger exercises - which can dramatically improve your piano playing!
