In this section of Chapter 3 taken from the online piano lessons series titled 'Phat Chord Voicings', we're looking specifically at some right hand piano 'Crunch' chords. These piano chords are unique in that they always contain two notes that are 1/2 or a whole step apart - hence the 'crunchy' sound.

The piano lessons technique used to create these chords is quite simple. It has to do with inverting the right hand notes until two of the notes are close together. In this piano lessons video, you'll see that I am leaving the left hand root in place while I invert the notes of the right hand piano chord.

Both 'Open' and 'Crunch' chords are very effective in Jazz piano and blues piano - however they each have a very distinctive sound and different musical functions. In the next section of this piano lessons video, we'll zero in on some of the crunch chords used in this example.
