- Have you ever heard anyone playing the piano or the keyboard, and they
seem to be finding all those "extra" notes that you could never find? Somehow
they would play all the right notes, but somehow alse they would add a
few extra notes that may not technically be within the chord structure,
and these extra notes would serve to add just a little extra "zing" to
the chord. These added notes are callled "non-chord tones". They can change
an ordinary musical passage that's just "okay" to something really beautiful.
